Company
Profile
A
brief history
LinkLine
Express Services was formed in 1995. Originally conceived as a parcel
carrier, it enjoyed considerable early success based on good Customer
Service. However it became very apparent that there was a great
rising need for the distribution of larger palletised freight.
In
November 1996 LinkLine Express Services were approached by Pall-Ex
to become a member of their network to deliver palletised freight
into the Birmingham postcode area. This partnership has proved to
be a total success for the following reasons:
- A
highly experienced & approachable management team,
- Total
commitment to Quality and Customer Care,
- All
logistical problems approached in a professional way,
- Unrivalled
local knowledge.
All
these factors have contributed not only to a rapid growth in sales,
workplace and fleet size in our Company, but to an overall growth
of a superior palletised network, handling in excess of 800,000
pallets per year. We recently relocated to a new 30,000 sq ft premises
at Saltley Business Park, Birmingham. The move to Saltley this year
not only provided additional operating space with room for further
growth, but also allowed us to diversify the business.
Scope
of Current Services
The
benefits that the new site has brought include a more efficient
operating space for the existing business, as well as a barrier
entrance and CCTV surveillance. This has led to a more secure and
improved working environment and has seen the number of employees
grow considerably, with the operation now handling around 240 pallets
each night.
We are able to handle all types of container off-load work, 'pick
and pack' operations, storage both short and long-term, with dedicated
vehicle feed.
Pall-IT
Every depot and the hub are linked by the Pall-IT system. A bespoke
software system written in-house the package aids consignment data
entry and generation of the consignment notes, pallet labels, manifests
etc. The
package also integrates an import routine from external sources
to link with existing systems. A customer implant version of the
system is available for larger inputters.
E-Pod information is available to view via the
system and Pall-Ex is developing a web-based POD
image viewing function as well as bar code scanning
facilities to improve pallet tracking/tracing even further.
Our
customer service commitment continues...
